PC Is Now Legal In Cuba!

Posted by sksee82 | 1:45 PM | , | Comments

Personal Computers(PC) are now legal in Cuba! Cubans can now purchase PC's over the counter since the Cuban Government lifted the ban today.

I've heard over BBC news that the Cuban Government has allow the selling of China made PCs which cost about $800 per unit to the public. Although the cost per PC is 40 times the monthly income of an average Cuban, news reported that PCs are still selling like hotcakes over there.

Yet, no PC is ever complete without an Internet connection to boot.

Speaking about Internet connection, the Cuban governemnt is hoping that the US Trade embargo would be lifted to allow the connection of the giant undersea submarine fiber optic cable from Cuba to the Internet backbone. This issue remains controversial and subjected to the political relationship between America and Cuba. As for the time being, Internet access in Cuba is only available via limited bandwidth satellite connection.

Perhaps somewhere in the near future when Broadband connection is made available in Cuba, would be able to read blogs written by Cubans. Another ProBlogger in the making perhaps?

Till my next rambling, I wish you all a good day and happy blogging!
