AdToll - Earn From Your Blog

Posted by sksee82 | 10:20 AM | , | 2 comments »

Another alternate way of monetizing your website/blog is by using AdToll. Like many other Ad Management Services, AdToll acts as platform for you to sell ads on your site. If there are no ads being taken up by advertisers, then RON Ads from AdToll will be displayed. I will further explain what does RON Ads mean and how it works later. Now, lets take a look at what AdToll has to offer.

Registration for Ad Toll?
FREE. Need I say more?

How much can you charge for your Ads?
AdToll lets you decide on the price you wish to sell to potential Advertisers. If your website/blog is still new, it
would be advisable to set a low price to attract potential Advertisers. If you are too lazy to set your own price, use the Autopricing function and let AdToll determine the price for you.

Earnings?
AdToll promises 75% commission on all the ads sold by you. Thats much higher as compared to Google Adsense who only allocates 40-60% to their users. If there are no Ads solf, AdToll will serve RON Ads at your site. Run of Network Ads or RON Ads are Cost-Per-Click (CPC) based ads. RON Ads allow you to continue earning money when your ad space has no potential buyers. Your will still get paid 75% of the total commission earned from readers who click on the RON Ads displayed in your site.

Types of ads offered by AdToll
Apart from the typical banners and skyscraper ads, Ad Toll also introduced new ad formats such as video advertising and Peel Away Ad. Here's how a AdToll Peel Away Ad look like:

Updating your Site resume
In order to attract advertisers, AdToll offers a section for editing your site details. Here is where you set your site description, set restriction on industries that you do not wish to sell ads too and write your sales pitch. Make sure that you write a good sales pitch to attract potential advertisers.

AdTool Referral Program
Just like any other Ad Management Services, a referral program is also available at AdTool. Here's how much commission AdTool's for referrals:

20% commission on profit made from Advertisers (90 day period)
10% commission on profit made from Publishers (365 day period)

Based on AdTool requirements, if you refer a publisher to AdTool, you are eligible to a 10% commission for the profit earned by the refered publisher. Of course the earning would stop after 365 days. If you refer an Advertisers, for each ad they take up, you get to earn a 20% commission, but only for 90 day period. After the 90 day period, you will stop getting commission from any ads taken up by the Advertiser. Honestly, I would have preferred if the commission taking does not have a set number of days.

What Other Services Offered by AdToll

AdToll offers a Rate Cardlet that allows you to provide more information about your available advertising to your web site visitors. The Rate Cardlet also provides links to your full AdToll Rate Card, which includes your Affiliate link. Here's how 4u2invest.blogspot rate cardlet look like:

Summary

The pros:
1. Higher commission paid by AdToll as compared to other Ad Management Services
2. Larger range of ads format to choose from.

The cons:
1. Set number of days for commission drawing in their referral program.
2. AdToll is pretty new and yet to display their full potential.

Verdict:
Recommended to give AdToll a try

Being a new blog, it would be rather natural for myself to promote the blog. As I would have expected, there would be comments about the new blog.

Here's a recent comment I received for promoting 4u2invest in a
Malaysian comunity forum was, I quote:

"2 posts only lulwut? and more money making blogs.. super sien "

Malaysian would most probably understand the above mentioned quote.

Simply translated, I believe it is something like this:

"Wow only 2 post, and more money making blogs...aren't you bored of it already? If your not, I am"

I hope I did not misinterpret the actual meaning of the comment given.

I do agree that this is a blog on how to make money. Yes I do agree that there are probably about thousands or millions of blogs on how to make money available on the internet. In fact there are probably thousands of blogs about everything, personal blogs, food blogs, travelling blogs, etc.

What makes a blog different from others of the same category? If you have read
Want To Start Blogging Part 1, you would see that it is the contents of your blog that makes the difference. It is your own unique way or writing, your personal opinion that makes your blog stand out from others.

If you were to start blogging on something unique, yet you are totally unfamiliar about, then what is the point blogging? Blogging should be something that you enjoy doing, and what makes it more interesting is the fact that you blog about something you are familiar or interested in. The portion about making money of course would come naturally as your blog grows.

I sincerely thank the comment given by a fellow malaysian for another malaysian. Perhaps some would view it as a deterrant. As for me, I view the comment as a comment to improve. A reminder to myself that should I slacken by producing low quality articles, I would probably end up having the same faith as the thousands other failed money making blogs.

Before you jump into the blogging wagon, take some time to read what I have to say first.

Let me start by saying this:

"If you intend to blog for the sake of making money, you would most likely fail miserably in making any money at all."

Why would I say that you would most likely fail to make any money if you blog with the intention of making money? Here are some points I would like to share:

1. If you intend to blog for the sake of money, you would most likely start blogging on something that is trendy/popular but without you having much knowledge it. Honestly tell me if you are not interested in the topic you are blogging, how long can you sustain or drive yourself to post in your blog daily or even weekly?

2. Readers will only remember you and your blog if you have can serve them quality contents. If you intend to cut and paste articles from another site or post something that has does not benefit your readers, you will most certainly never ever be able to drive traffic to your blog. Not now and most certainly never in the near future.

3. As I have mention in point number 2, apart from good quality contents, readers want to hear your own views/opinions/perspective with regards to the what you are blogging about. Readers are always intrigued with bloggers who are able to project their personal opinions and perspective into their blog articles.

4. Do not, I repeat do not start a blog that you have minimal knowledge of what you are writing about. When you intend to blog, you should choose a subject that you have lots of interest in. The drive to continue posting in a blog on a daily or weekly basis can only be sustained if you are truly interested in what you are blogging about. Blogging about topics which you do not know much about would simply mark the demise of your blog. Why so? Its because you would most likely lose interest in the topic or get frustrated because you have no idea what to write for the next post.

5. Chucking large chunk of ads/banners into your newly started blog is a definite No No. Your main concern for a newly started blog should not be on how many ads should you put in your blog or how fancy should your blog be. The first and primary concern is the contents of your blog. If you intend to blog for the long run, please go back and read point number 2 and 3.

6. The next concern would be on how to make your "quality" contents be made known to your target audience/readers. I hope to write more about driving traffic to your site and rest assured that an article about it would be out soon. They are countless articles on the web about how to drive traffic to your site. You can try Googling it in advance if you are eager to know more about it.

Lastly, try pondering over all 6 points I have dished out. If you are ready, then we can move on to Part 2 of Want To Start Blogging?

Thats right, the first step for anyone who wishes to make any money online is to have a medium for payment and receiving payment. Without a basic medium for transaction, it would be impossible to actually earn any money online. Of course there is the method of payment by cheque, yet I believe that most (companies, business) would prefer an alternate/easier method of payment.

I would personally recommend PayPal for any sort of transaction made online. There are many other forms of 3rd party websites who offer the same kind of service. For myself, PayPal would be the preffered choice. The reason being that PayPal is internationally recognized by almost all major companies/websites. When the question arises on what is actually PayPal, I get the answer right from PayPal itself.

"PayPal is how individuals and businesses send and receive money online."

PayPal's definition on what they do is self explanatory and I need not elaborate further about them.

Starting an account with PayPal is rather easy and all you need is just to follow the instruction given. Not to mentioned that it is FREE to start an account with PayPal. I have started mine and made my first step towards making money online. Have you taken yours?
