Title or Contents First?

Posted by sksee82 | 9:49 PM | , , , | Comments

This is one of those rare moments where I tend to sit down, with nothing in mind and start typing whatever that comes across my mind. In fact, I don't even have a title for this post yet.

Speaking about title or headline for a blog post, I tend to...wait I should rephrase that with "I always" pick a title only after completing my blog post. Although somewhat similiar to having my main course first and appetiser later, I have my reasons for doing so. I meant reasons for blogging first and title selection later, not the part about how I finish my food.

When I first started blogging four years ago, there's always this tendency of me trying to come up with an eye catching, mind blowing or This Will Make You Say "Wow" title before actually attempting to write a post about it. I was like, Hey with an awesome title, I'm pretty sure the ideas will flow naturally once I start writing! That's when the problem starts.

The first couple of lines were easy as it involves the introduction of the title. When I wanted to blog about the contents, I stopped! Was I suffering from a writer's block? I seriously doubt that. The real truth? I had little idea on what to write about this "awesome" title. Feeling that the brilliant title should not go to waste (after all the brain juice I've lost in trying to come up with this title), I resorted to expand what little idea I had thought of earlier. This turned my blog post into a full blown "grandmother story" which is long winded and had little or no substance. (I'm sorry grandma if I've offended you. I hope you understand. :) )

A perfect blog post should always be packed with contents and encased with a powerful and captivating title. When a blogger chooses a title before thinking of the contents, the first mistake is made. Say for example, you have a personal blog and you see today's headline that Obama has won the Democrat Presidential Campaign. Something in your mind snap, a bulb lit and you immediately see this great title flashing before you, "Obama Kicks Butt, McCain's Ass Next!". Impressive title eh? Yet do you honestly believe you could produce a post with contents to match this title if you start writing now?

Another point I would like to stress is coming up with an excellent title yet having nothing in the contents to feed their expectations. If the shoe is too big, try getting a smaller one. Forcing yourself to wear them will only result in you tripping over, sooner or later. The same applies to your blog, if you don't have the contents that will satisfy your readers, don't trick them into reading by putting up a great title. By the way, my congratulations to you for taking the first step towards an early demise for your blog.

I admit I'm being a little long winded on this whole title selecting and blog post thingy. I hope I've got a few pointers across for newbie bloggers. I honestly can't teach you how to blog, yet I hope that everytime you blog, go for the contents first. I've emphasize the importance of contents so many times in my previous blog posts that I'm beginning to sound like a nagging grandmother! Remember, the title of a post is only the cosmetic, true beauty lies in the contents of your post.
Till my next post, cheers and happy blogging!

If you take some time to ponder over the title of this post, you might realize that your blog is in fact the company you own, your friend in need, the child you care over and the enemy you dread. How can a simple blog play so many roles in your life? The answer to that very question lies in this article. In fact, I hope by the time you finish reading this article, you might ask yourself this question, "Why have I not thought about this before?". Now that I've raised your curiosity, do continue reading if you wish to find out more.

Your Blog, Your Company
Just like owning a company,
1. You assume full responsibility of your blog the moment you register for it.
2. You become the owner, the CEO, the worker as well as the office boy of your blog.
3. How well your blog performs lies entirely in your hands. The growth of your blog, how you promote it, how you entertain your customers (readers) and what products (contents) you provide are all very much similar to that of a small company.

Your Blog, Your Friend
Your blog is somewhat similar to a silent friend who never complains or turns away when you are in need of someone to talk to. Your blog listens to you when you:
1. Pour your heart out over a break up..
2. Share your funny or awkward moments.
3. Gossip about someone
4. Talk about your achievement and how great of a man/woman you are.
5. Talk about Global Warming and how it affects Barbie Dolls.

Your Blog, Your Child
You are responsible over your new blog as much as you are to your own child. If your blog is being depraved of the required “needs”, it will never grow to meet your expectation. Just like a child, you need to:
1. Ensure that your blog has the right nutrition to grow (by feeding your blog with quality contents)
2. Ensure your blog is properly clothed (by giving it a well designed template)
3. Ensure your blog has the proper education (by equipping it with the proper fundamentals such as feeds, links backs, widgets, meta tags and many more in order to help it grow)
4. Ensure your blog does not get spoilt by materialism (by adding too many ads, embedding multiple pop-up ads, displaying unrelated ads, etc)

Your Blog, Your Dreaded Enemy
This is one situation that you don’t want your blog to become. You know things aren’t going right when:
1. You run out of ideas on what to write.
2. You dread looking at your blog and you feel nauseated every time you look at the text editor because there is nothing to blog about.
3. You feel pressured to put up articles for your readers even when you don’t feel like it.
4. The thought of blogging turns you off totally.

In a nutshell, I did not write this article to tell readers on how to manage a company or how to be a good friend. Neither is this article about good parenting nor making enemies. By relating real life elements to a blog, I hope that bloggers who have read this article will start to appreciate their blogs even more. Remember, your blog can only grow with your patience, guidance and help.

By the way, if your blog has already become your enemy, perhaps an article I wrote sometime ago might be of some help. Here's the link to it.

Have you ever noticed when you Google the term "How To Improve Blog Traffic", the search results are not sites that offer services to boost your blog traffic? Instead you find sites that provide good solid tips and sharing personal experiences on how they build up traffic to their sites. Most of the articles written are worthy of a read as they are written based on personal experiences of webmasters and individuals who have made a name for themselves.

Honestly, I deem myself as unqualified to produce an article about "How To Improve Blog Traffic", at least not for now. I don't intend to steal any part of these articles and claim it as my own either. The main intention of this article is to provide a simply summary of the characteristics that all these bloggers have in common.

1. Quality Content - Bloggers of successful blogs always put emphasis on quality more then quantity for their articles. Steve from stevepavlina.com shared a tip on what he does everytime he intends to write an article for his blog. In his article on
How To Build A High Traffic Web Site (or Blog) , Steve said and I quote, "When I sit down to write, I sometimes imagine myself standing on an outdoor concert stage before an audience of a million people. Then I ask myself, What shall I say to this audience of a million people?"

2. Hard Work - If you want to create a successful blog, you can never be lazy. Producing an article whenever you feel like it won’t bring traffic to your blog. Mert Erkal the owner of searchblogging.com in his article on
How I Quadrupled My Blog's Traffic In 3 Months mentioned that he dedicated nearly 3 hours daily to his blog for 3 months while having a 9-17 job. There is no easy way to build a successful blog then to spend time and effort on it. As the saying goes, you reap what you sow.

3. Intentions - Blog because you are truly interested in blogging. If you blog to share your experience or provide quality contents for your readers, by all means go ahead. If you blog with the intentions of making money from it, you'll never produce contents that are worthy of a read by your readers. Your true intentions will reflect directly on your contents. You might not realize it, but your readers will.

4. Setting goals for your blog - This is an important characteristic that all successful bloggers have. Bloggers set realistic goals/targets for their blog and strive towards achieving them. If you've set a target to produce one post a day for you blog, stick to that target without fail. Remember to set goals that are achievable and have an action plan for each of those goals.

5. Marketing yourself and your blog - What it means here is to make your blog and yourself known to the blogging community. You can start with promoting your blog at blogging forums, treat your readers as friends, provide help and advise when the need arises, visit blogs of your readers and give honest comments when you visit other blogs. The main objective is to make your blog a nice place to visit as well as creating a warm relationship between your readers and you.

There you have it, a short summary of the 5 most common characteristics of a successful blogger. There are probably more characteristics that I have left out here. If you think that you have more to share, do leave a comment. I shall add on to the list above.

Lastly, I hope this simple article of mine would prove beneficial to you as it was to me.

When you talk about using blogs or site to earn money from the Internet, the first thing that comes out of it is Google AdSense. How many times have you come across forum and threads idolizing Google AdSense? How many times have you seen blogs stop updating after getting their AdSense accounts banned by Google?

Would you be demotivated to blog if your AdSense account got terminated for no reason? What if your application to Google AdSense receives this reply:

In fact this is the very reply I got from Google Adsense for my most recent application. I did feel the sudden pang of demotivation when I received that reply from AdSense. Never the less, I knew very well that my past actions have come back to haunt me. I'm paying the price of a folly committed by myself four years ago.

I started blogging four years ago and was rather excited when I came across Google AdSense at that time. I thought to myself, I just need to place the Google ads on my blog and if people click on the ads, I get paid. By God, is Google giving out free money to me??

So I registered myself and approval was given almost instantly (unlike nowadays where an application for Google AdSense requires days to get a response from them).

Those days, there was no guide on how to add Google Ads to your blog. Furthermore, using Blogger Classic was a horror for beginners likes me. I knew nuts about HTML and you expect me to stick a bunch of codes from Google AdSense into my blog?

It took me hours and probably days to get the right placement of ads into my Blogger Classic template. I had to paste the code, save the template and view it to see if the codes fit correctly. This was repeated over and over again until I was satisfied with it. Now that the ads are up, I'm ready to make some fast money. I click on the ads once and then log in to my Google AdSense account. Wow! my account has been credited with a few cents from that one click. I click again on the same ad and refresh my AdSense account page, more money got added.

Back then, I had no idea that my IP was tracked by Google. Back then, I was totally ignorant about the terms and condition of Google AdSense. How was I know to what is wrong or right when all I did was click "I Agree" during the registration. The only thing obvious to me that time is clicking the ads as many times a possible to generate more income for myself.

After days and probably weeks of clicking my own ads, I received an email from the AdSense Team. Were they sending me an email to congratulate me for being the top clicker? Or is it time to pay me for dilligently clicking on their Ads? I opened the mail, my heart beating with excitement as I expect to see some good news.

Alas, there were no congratulatory words in the mail! Neither was there a single sentence saying that a cheque has been sent to me. I couldn't believe my eyes as I read the mail over and over again. My account has been TERMINATED! What in the world have I done wrong?

Back to the present, you can see how naive I was then. Once your name has been blacklisted by Google AdSense, you can never again apply for a new AdSense account using the same name. Use another name? Well the cheque payment from AdSense is issued to the registered name, so if you intend for some stranger to earn money from your ads, go ahead and proceed.

Four years have past since then. I regretted my action but there is no turning back. Life has to go on. I still love to blog, with or without AdSense. There will be other alternatives to make money from blogging. I'm still here posting articles, getting a Dot Com domain and starting a site to help other bloggers. Has my blogging world ended the day Adsense left me four years ago? I guess not.

A piece of advice for anyone who has just started blogging and want to use Google AdSense for your blog. Please and I repeat please read the Terms and Condition stipulated by Google AdSense before you click the "I Agree" button. When it comes to money, large corporation like Google can be pretty strict with their policies. No amount of plea or appeal will get you clean again once you're blacklisted.

Remember this and remember well my dear readers,

NEVER EVER CLICK YOUR OWN ADS!

P.s : Thinking of some other ingenuis way to outwit Google? Think twice! A 200 billion dollar corporation isn't run by dimwits you know.

Good luck making money and happy blogging to all.

Bloggerfocus.com, A New Beginning

Posted by sksee82 | 12:30 AM | , , , | Comments

After 3 years of blogging inconsistently, I've come to realize that there are a couple of reasons that lead to the quick demise of my blogs. These are the top 3 reasons why:

1. The lack of readers visiting my blog. I thought I had quality content, but why aren't there any readers after 3 months?

2. The lack of resources to guide me on how to improve my blog outlook. Even if there are, some are just too complicated to understand, not to mentioned implementing them. If improving your blog is that easy, there would be not be so many sites out there offering help and advice.

3. The internet is a cruel world. I've made my shares of mistakes and got demotivated when I realize I was forever blacklisted, especially if it involves abusing advertising. Yes I admit I was naive when I started blogging. The classic scenario of having a standard template with lots of ads in it and hoping for money to roll in.

Looking back, I realized that there many bloggers out there who face the some problem as well. Then it dawn to me that there should be a site that provides solutions and advise for many aspiring bloggers out there.

That lead me to start 4u2invest.blogspot.com.

While producing articles for 4u2invest.blogspot, I had my fair share of researching and reading. The reason? I did not want my articles to be just another cut and paste from a variety of sites. In addition, I wanted my articles to be simple and easily digested by readers.

A week ago, while doing some research for my article, I stumbled upon an article about the benefits of having your own custom domain. I decided to dig deeper. 10 more related articles later, I was convinced that having a blogspot in my url wasn't going to help my blog in terms of reaching a wider audience.

I immediately embarked on a search for a suitable domain. Thanks to MakeWords.com, I was able to find the domain name that I wanted in double the time by utilizing the site's domain name generator. To keep the story short, I bought the domain, registered with ZoneEdit.com, parked my domain in their server and defined my CNAME, did some configuration to the custom domain setting in my blogger account and I was up running. (Believe me, its not that complicated to use your own custom domain while using Blogger.com to host your blog. I shall be coming up with the guide soon.)

That my readers, was how Bloggerfocus.com got conceived.

Cheers and Happy Blogging.

As promised from my previous article, I will be sharing a simple guide on how to replace your blogspot static header with a dynamic header. The steps require you to add a few lines of codes to your template's HTML. Once the codes added, it will automatically switch the arrangement of your blog's heading as shown in the picture below.

My page with Static Header(Click To Enlarge)

My page with Dynamic Header(Click To Enlarge)

By having your blog post title appear first instead of your blog main title, you prevent Google crawler from treating all your post as duplicates. If you were to maintain the static header, Google crawler tend to omit results because the crawler sees each post as having the same header, in this case your blog's main title header. That explains the reason why you occasionally see this message appearing at the bottom of your searches (especially when you try searching for your own blog):

"If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included."

Now that you are convinced with the benefit of having a dynamic header, lets move on to adding the dynamic header to your blogspot.

Step One
As usual, backup your blog's template before making any changes to your template HTML.

Step Two
Start by locating the following HTML codes (located somewhere near the top):

<b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/>

<data:blog.pageTitle/>

<b:skin>/*

Delete this line from your code:

<data:blog.pageTitle/>

Copy the dynamic header codes from here:

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>
<b:section id='titleTag'>
<b:widget id='Blog2' locked='false' title='Blog Posts' type='Blog'>
<b:includable id='nextprev'/>
<b:includable id='backlinks' var='post'/>
<b:includable id='post' var='post'><data:post.title/></b:includable>
<b:includable id='commentDeleteIcon' var='comment'/>
<b:includable id='status-message'/>
<b:includable id='feedLinks'/>
<b:includable id='backlinkDeleteIcon' var='backlink'/>
<b:includable id='feedLinksBody' var='links'/>
<b:includable id='postQuickEdit' var='post'/>
<b:includable id='comments' var='post'/>
<b:includable id='main' var='top'>
<b:loop values='data:posts' var='post'><b:include data='post' name='post'/></b:loop> | <data:blog.title/>
</b:includable>
</b:widget>
</b:section>
<b:else/>

<data:blog.pageTitle/> - BloggerResource

</b:if>

Paste the copied code directly above the CDATA code. It should look something like this:

<b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/>

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>
<b:section id='titleTag'>
<b:widget id='Blog2' locked='false' title='Blog Posts' type='Blog'>
<b:includable id='nextprev'/>
<b:includable id='backlinks' var='post'/>
<b:includable id='post' var='post'><data:post.title/></b:includable>
<b:includable id='commentDeleteIcon' var='comment'/>
<b:includable id='status-message'/>
<b:includable id='feedLinks'/>
<b:includable id='backlinkDeleteIcon' var='backlink'/>
<b:includable id='feedLinksBody' var='links'/>
<b:includable id='postQuickEdit' var='post'/>
<b:includable id='comments' var='post'/>
<b:includable id='main' var='top'>
<b:loop values='data:posts' var='post'><b:include data='post' name='post'/></b:loop> | <data:blog.title/>
</b:includable>
</b:widget>
</b:section>
<b:else/>

<data:blog.pageTitle/> - BloggerResource

</b:if>

<b:skin>/*

Your last step is to move the
between the dynamic header code and the CDATA code. The final arrangement of your codes should look something like this:

<b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/>

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>
<b:section id='titleTag'>
<b:widget id='Blog2' locked='false' title='Blog Posts' type='Blog'>
<b:includable id='nextprev'/>
<b:includable id='backlinks' var='post'/>
<b:includable id='post' var='post'><data:post.title/></b:includable>
<b:includable id='commentDeleteIcon' var='comment'/>
<b:includable id='status-message'/>
<b:includable id='feedLinks'/>
<b:includable id='backlinkDeleteIcon' var='backlink'/>
<b:includable id='feedLinksBody' var='links'/>
<b:includable id='postQuickEdit' var='post'/>
<b:includable id='comments' var='post'/>
<b:includable id='main' var='top'>
<b:loop values='data:posts' var='post'><b:include data='post' name='post'/></b:loop> | <data:blog.title/>
</b:includable>
</b:widget>
</b:section>
<b:else/>

<data:blog.pageTitle/> - BloggerResource

</b:if>

<b:skin>/*

This is the 2nd part of the "Want To Start Blogging?" edition.. If you have not read the first part, it would be advisable to read first before continuing with the 2nd part.

If you have already read the first part, I believe you are now ready to take your first step towards blogging. Generally anyone can blog and starting a blog is just a couple of clicks away. Yet why do we see so many blogs not updated after just a couple of articles? Why the lack of consistency for bloggers to update blogs which they started? The answer lies in interest. Part 1 of "Want To Start Blogging?" should provide you with some advise towards identifying the right niche for your blog.

Now that I believe after reading part 1, you should have identified the right niche for your blog. Part 2 would engage on how willing are you to commit towards your blog? This article is not only targeted for readers who intend to start a blog, but also for readers who are currently blogging. Both part 1 and 2 should help you to reaccess your current blog and make the necessary changes towards it (if you deem required).

Lets begin by answering these questions:

Do you intend to blog for the long run?

Can you commit towards updating your blog frequently?

Do you want your blog to be well known?

If you answer “Yes” to all 3 questions, then you are prepared to make a serious commitment towards your blog. Having hundred or thousands of visitors coming to your blog is not a one day process. Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Its takes effort and perseverance to achieve such success for your blog. Returning to the 3 questions that you have agreed upon, let’s take a deeper look into them.

“Do you intend to blog for the long run?”
What it means here is to engage your commitment towards your blog. Are you willing to dedicate months of maybe years to your blog? If you are hoping to get hundreds of visitors to your one week old blog, then its best for you to look for other interests. On the other hand, I can’t deny that some blogs do become famous overnight due to certain reasons. If you are one of those lucky one, I believe you wouldn’t be here reading this article. For those who are reading now and truly aspire to have a successful blog, patience is one of the main requirements.

“Can you commit towards updating your blog frequently?
Apart from producing good quality articles (as described in Part 1), consistency of posting is a vital requirement. Set a target on how frequent you want to update your blog and stick to it. Once you have captivated a reader’s attention to your blog, the reader would expect to see something new every time he or she visits your blog. Imagine what impression your blog gives to a reader who checks back to your blog after a week just to find the same old article he or she has read the last time. For newly opened blogs, its best to update your blog daily. Some of the top bloggers I know started their blogs by updating their blogs with new articles several times a day.

“Do you want your blog to be well known?”
The key point here is ensuring that your blog continues to grow as time passes. Look for ways to improve your contents as well as ways to improve the overall outlook of your blog. Find out ways on how to improve traffic to your blog such as promoting it at forums, public pingers, blog exchange sites and linking with well know blogs. In short there are various ways to popularize your blog on the internet (try doing a simple Google search). Yet while you work your way towards popularizing your blog, always remember to maintain the standards of your blog contents.

If you are confident that you can commit towards all the above mentioned questions, I congratulate you for having taken your first step towards creating a successful blog. Lastly always remember these keywords:

Quality Contents
Always Improving
(contents and blog appearance)
Frequency (of post)
Persistency (never be de-motivated by negative comments or lack of traffic to your blog)

Pimping The Blog

Posted by sksee82 | 6:32 PM | , , , | Comments

Yeap, that's what the title say, I've been pimping my blog, or at least try to pimp my blog. The reason of course is very simple, having a decent looking blog does help to keep the readers glued to you. If it does not look professional at least make it look presentable.

I admit I ain't a code guru that could turn a simple blog into a spectacular one by just snapping my fingers once. I had to do it the hardaway, backing up the previous template, looking for a decent looking template and then taking the risk of uploading the new template. I tried uploading a couple of templates and I would say it was disastrous. The layout in blogger totally got messed up, my ads disappear, and best of all my stat counter deserted me. The perils faced by an illiterate coder...sigh

Finally, I managed to find a template that actually meets my requirement. Firstly it has to be a 3 column template to allow more space for ads, links, pictures and etc. Next it has got be simple in design and uses light colours as a background. There is no significant prove that light background with dark fonts have an edge over dark background with lighter fonts. Its just a matter of preference and maybe it adds to the "pureness" of my blog.

Back to “pimping” the blog, there are a few points that I believe should be taken into consideration when you choose your template or in some cases, when you design a blog. Let me list them out:

1. Make sure the background colour and the font has good contrast (like my blog for example... what a showboat)

2. Make sure you select a good title/theme for your blog. Your blog title would be the first line of attraction for any readers. For example, between "Pimping Your Blog" and "Make Your Blog Nicer", which would you think have a better chance to attract a reader to explore more about your site/blog?

3. Make sure that you do not insert a picture as background that would make readers struggle to read what you have written.

4. Make sure you do not "rainbow-tized" your blog. That means, try to cut down on the number of colours you use on the blog. You don't want to give the impression that you own a rainbow instead of a blog.

5. Make your blog look neat and tidy. Do not scatter your ads, pictures, and links all over your blog. For example, in a 3 column blog, try placing all the ads, rss feed and sponsors in a single column and the links or pictures on another column. The bottomline is for readers to get a good impression upon the first glance of your blog. I believe most of you would have just closed a page when you come upon a hap-hazard site that has ads strewn all over the place and you can't seem to find the search button.

6. A picture paints a thousand words, thats how the saying goes. But when you have too many pictures in your blog, would that mean you are having thousands and thousands of words added to your article? All right, enough with the sarcasm. What my point is, try reducing the number of pictures in your blog. The more pictures you put in it, the slower the loading of your site/blog will be for a reader. Imagine having a large picture banner at the top page describing about your site, then you have loads of picture ads by the side column, coupled with tons of other pictures for each paragraph of your article. Imagine the loading time for your site/blog especially in areas where readers have bad broadband services? If pictures are a necessity in your blog, a few options are available to solve the problem at hand. Perhaps you could try posting pictures which you think are important or relevant to your article. How about posting the thumbnail instead of the actual picture in your blog? To a lesser extent, perhaps you can to provide a link to the site where your pictures are hosted.

I hope some of the tips from this article would help make your blog a better place to read. If you have any comments about the article, feel free to drop a comment or e-mail me at
sksee82@yahoo.com.

If you have something to comment about my "pimped" blog, follow as instructed in the paragraph above.

Special thanks to http://www.spiga.com.mx/ for the outstanding template.
Remember to check back at my blog frequently. RSS feeds do not immediately update new articles.

Being a new blog, it would be rather natural for myself to promote the blog. As I would have expected, there would be comments about the new blog.

Here's a recent comment I received for promoting 4u2invest in a
Malaysian comunity forum was, I quote:

"2 posts only lulwut? and more money making blogs.. super sien "

Malaysian would most probably understand the above mentioned quote.

Simply translated, I believe it is something like this:

"Wow only 2 post, and more money making blogs...aren't you bored of it already? If your not, I am"

I hope I did not misinterpret the actual meaning of the comment given.

I do agree that this is a blog on how to make money. Yes I do agree that there are probably about thousands or millions of blogs on how to make money available on the internet. In fact there are probably thousands of blogs about everything, personal blogs, food blogs, travelling blogs, etc.

What makes a blog different from others of the same category? If you have read
Want To Start Blogging Part 1, you would see that it is the contents of your blog that makes the difference. It is your own unique way or writing, your personal opinion that makes your blog stand out from others.

If you were to start blogging on something unique, yet you are totally unfamiliar about, then what is the point blogging? Blogging should be something that you enjoy doing, and what makes it more interesting is the fact that you blog about something you are familiar or interested in. The portion about making money of course would come naturally as your blog grows.

I sincerely thank the comment given by a fellow malaysian for another malaysian. Perhaps some would view it as a deterrant. As for me, I view the comment as a comment to improve. A reminder to myself that should I slacken by producing low quality articles, I would probably end up having the same faith as the thousands other failed money making blogs.

Before you jump into the blogging wagon, take some time to read what I have to say first.

Let me start by saying this:

"If you intend to blog for the sake of making money, you would most likely fail miserably in making any money at all."

Why would I say that you would most likely fail to make any money if you blog with the intention of making money? Here are some points I would like to share:

1. If you intend to blog for the sake of money, you would most likely start blogging on something that is trendy/popular but without you having much knowledge it. Honestly tell me if you are not interested in the topic you are blogging, how long can you sustain or drive yourself to post in your blog daily or even weekly?

2. Readers will only remember you and your blog if you have can serve them quality contents. If you intend to cut and paste articles from another site or post something that has does not benefit your readers, you will most certainly never ever be able to drive traffic to your blog. Not now and most certainly never in the near future.

3. As I have mention in point number 2, apart from good quality contents, readers want to hear your own views/opinions/perspective with regards to the what you are blogging about. Readers are always intrigued with bloggers who are able to project their personal opinions and perspective into their blog articles.

4. Do not, I repeat do not start a blog that you have minimal knowledge of what you are writing about. When you intend to blog, you should choose a subject that you have lots of interest in. The drive to continue posting in a blog on a daily or weekly basis can only be sustained if you are truly interested in what you are blogging about. Blogging about topics which you do not know much about would simply mark the demise of your blog.Why so? Its because you would most likely lose interest in the topic or get frustrated because you have no idea what to write for the next post.

5. Chucking large chunk of ads/banners into your newly started blog is a definite No No. Your main concern for a newly started blog should not be on how many ads should you put in your blog or how fancy should your blog be. The first and primary concern is the contents of your blog. If you intend to blog for the long run, please go back and read point number 2 and 3.

6. The next concern would be on how to make your "quality" contents be made known to your target audience/readers. I hope to write more about driving traffic to your site and rest assured that an article about it would be out soon. They are countless articles on the web about how to drive traffic to your site. You can try Googling it in advance if you are eager to know more about it.

Lastly, try pondering over all 6 points I have dished out. If you are ready, then we can move on to Part 2 of Want To Start Blogging?
